Quranist – a local, national or international term?

AKA The Fish and Chip Shop analogy

Somebody commented: “As for the word quranist, in my experience it has come to mean different things to different people and on most forums I am aware of it is strongly influenced by coders.”

Where I come from (England), it is sometimes a bit confusing when you go in the Fish and Chip shop and ask for a “scallop” and they say, “you mean a ‘fishcake’?” Some people call them “Fish and potato hashes” or “Fritters” or “Rissoles”. It’s debatable whether each one is just potato in batter or whether some have fish added. It’s not usually a problem though. The main thing is it’s not a battered sausage or a steak and kidney pie.
