Dua

Oh dear God,
Give me patience and strength!
And the fuse of my temper,
Please increase in length!

If my thoughts are sarcastic,
Or spiteful or rude,
Please cleanse me of hatred,
And make cheerful my mood.

If I am troubled,
Or weary or blue,
Make me more thankful,
And repentant to You!

If I am angry,
Forgive me this sin.
Bestow on me blessings,
Of calm from within.

You know my struggles.
You know I am weak.
But You know my intentions,
From the oaths that I speak.

Protect me from Shaytan,
I beg this from You.
Without You I’m nothing.
I seek refuge with You.

Another Challenge to the MuslimVlogGuy

This time to this video :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FamEQeJoK9k&feature=related

Where he talks about the need for tafseer. I invited him to debate:

Salam MuslimVlogGuy, I’d like to have another video-to-video debate with you on issues regarding Traditionalist Muslim tafaseer and ulum al-quran. Would that be possible?

Challenging the MuslimVlogGuy

Check out his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEompSydUyg&feature=related

You gotta love his confidence right? Well I issued this invitation to debate him:

Salam MuslimVlogGuy,
Shall we have a video to video debate? I think it can benefit our audiences.  We can do it with Q&A format if you like. Since we are ‘typically easy to refute’, I am sure you will be appreciated by your audiences for doing this. What do you say?

More on obeying the husbands!

in QRAC. Shorouq posted: This is what the hadith says:

Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: There are 3 persons whose salaah is not accepted nor does any good act of theirs reach the sky. Firstly, a runaway slave until he returns to his master. Secondly, a woman whose husband is displeased with her and thirdly an intoxicated person as long as he does not repent from using intoxicants. (BAIHAQI)

My comment: no stipulation is made on how the husband should be and since hadith collections are fragmentary and not textual, we must take this hadith in itself.

Reply to the QF’ist, Mr Jinn – Part 7

Jinn: The term “Quranist” to me closes more doors than it opens. The majority of Muslims already lump us into that very term and label us a cult. They even combine us with the Submitters and incorrectly attribute all of us to being followers of Dr. Khalifa. When I tell somebody I’m a Muslim, yet am skeptical of the hadith, they start to ask questions, which is exactly what a Muslim should do. It’s better than being immediately written off as a fanatical cultist, which is the current propaganda floating around

My Comment: I appreciate your experience but mine differs. By using the term Quranist, I create a semantic space in the mind of those whom I communicate with.  The semantic space is now being filled with positive perceptions. We already have Ahmed Subhy Mansour, another self-proclaimed Quranist whose work show people that Quranists are a whole other kind of Muslim. We are progressing but I appreciate your rejection of the term.

As for being mistaken for the followers of RK, I admit that goes on but as I am seeing, that perception is changing too. One of the top reasons for that is that RK’s people ALSO have an exclusivist definition of Islam and Muslims.

Major Concepts within the Quran

Peace,

I got the file originally from here. If you speak Arabic, then terrific! You should read those articles! If you do not, I will try to translate as many as possible of them simply because they fascinate me.

Just finished translating a second one. To those who have read the first one (about the Quranic language), I’ve improved the writing style and made it much easier to read. It just might get posted tomorrow as well (the old version has been deleted off my blog). This one is a much shorter article, and I’m hoping to get some feedback.

The original writer (Ibrahim Bin Nabi) holds discussions on an Arabic forum called “Miraj Al-Qalam”. I took liberty to translate a few. Please download the file and read it. And please DO write back.

The ‘Rights’ of the Husband

Check out this scholarly tripe highlighted by Veronica in QRAC. I got a word for it…YUCK! These guys got nauseating imaginations.
